Sea Swift has launched a special new offer for Torres Strait Islands residents wanting to transport passenger vehicles between Horn, Thursday, Prince of Wales, and Hammond Islands.
As of Thursday 1 November 2018, local residents will receive a 50 per cent discount when they take their vehicle across the harbour from and to any of the islands on Sea Swift’s reliable Cossack barge.
Sea Swift General Manager Operations (Queensland) Peter Domenighini said the offer is available to individual (non-business) customers who reside on any of the four islands.
“This is a great deal for anyone wanting to move their vehicle between the islands,” said Mr Domenighini.
“Customers may want to take advantage of the offer to get their car serviced, or might simply be borrowing a vehicle from a friend or family member.
“Maybe a customer simply wants a mode of transport on Thursday Island, and needs their car so they can get around.
“Whatever the case may be, we hope plenty of locals take advantage of the 50 per cent discount.”
Mr Domenighini said Sea Swift has a proud record of supporting local communities.
“Sea Swift has been proudly servicing remote communities in northern Australia for more than 30 years, and we always play an active role in the communities where we operate,” he said.
“Giving back is a core value of our company, and we’re thrilled to be able to play a role in supporting the community through this initiative.”
Sea Swift is one of the largest employers in northern Australia with more than 400 staff and 30 vessels, and makes a significant contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the region.
