Sea Swift commits to Groote Eylandt long-term

Sea Swift would like to inform the residents of the Groote Eylandt archipelago communities of Alyangula, Angurugu, Umbakumba and Bickerton Island that even though we have been unsuccessful in securing the South32 GEMCO barge service contract on this occasion, we will continue to service all of our community customers on a scheduled weekly basis, as well as delivering to Anindilyakwa Land Council and its related entities, and to South32 GEMCO project logistics.

Our local Groote Eylandt team led by Dave Bramley will continue to provide outstanding onsite services to all of our valued customers and we do appreciate your numerous messages of support.

Sea Swift looks forward to providing long-term freight services to the Groote Eylandt community. We will advise you directly of our new home once we have identified a suitable depot location.

We would like to thank South32 GEMCO for assuring that Sea Swift will maintain our access to the port for our regular weekly services, guaranteeing essential community services to the residents of the Groote Eylandt archipelago and the wider region

Groote Eylandt is 1 of over 45 communities we service across Northern Australia and through the acquisition of Toll Perkins Shipping in 2016, we have well over 50 years of uninterrupted services in the Northern Territory that have withstood the test of time, whilst employing over 450 locals across 27 vessels and 9 regional depots and terminals.
