Sea Swift letter to Customers from CEO, Dr Rochelle Macdonald

12 January 2022

Dear Valued Customer,

On behalf of the whole team at Sea Swift, I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year and hope that you were able to enjoy the festive period during this challenging time.

We are entering a very different phase of COVID-19, not least because of the high levels of community transmission associated with Omicron, and we want to keep our people and the communities we serve as safe as possible.

Sea Swift continues to be committed to providing essential services to all our regional and remote communities throughout Northern Australia. Like other supply chains throughout Australia, we are starting to experience impact on our operations due to cyclonic weather events and the availability of crew, with a number of people in our supply chain being in isolation due to contracting COVID-19 (including suppliers, truck drivers and distribution team), which in turn is causing delays to your deliveries. To give you a sense of the magnitude of the challenge, all non-essential workers are working from home, and we are experiencing COVID-driven absences of more than 10 per cent and increasing.

We understand how frustrating it is when your cargo doesn’t arrive on the scheduled day, and we’re working hard to get all services back to normal as quickly as we can, including using Rapid Antigen Tests prior to crews on roster and for anyone with COVID-19 related symptoms.

In the meantime, we will continue to provide our essential service to your community, although the delivery days may differ to our scheduled service. We would of course ask you to keep using our service and to continue to show kindness to our teams during this challenging time for all of us.

We are all impacted by this pandemic and the current weather events, and as we transition into 2022 and living with COVID, we’ll need to keep learning and adapting to the ever-changing environment.

My promise to you is that we will keep communicating any changes to our services on our website and through our social media channels as they arise, so that we can keep providing the safest possible way for you to receive your goods from Sea Swift.

Thank you again for your support and understanding as we go over the Omicron hump. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our friendly customer service team by email customerservice@seaswift.com.au or phone on 1800 424 422.

Sea Swift – Regional Australia’s leading supply chain enabler.

Kind regards,

Dr Rochelle Macdonald
