Frequently Asked Questions

Question:> What tours are offered at each destination? Answer: Horn and Thursday Island – World War II – Historic Sites and Museum. Bamaga – Tour to Cape York, mainland Australia’s most northerly point.

Question: What sort of clothing should I bring? Answer: Casual clothing (t-shirts & shorts), walking shoes, hat, sunglasses, camera, sunscreen, insect repellent. A jumper or jacket would be useful when on the deck during the evening.

Question: Can we take alcohol on board? Answer: No, there is a licensed bar on the vessel which operates twice a day from 12.00pm – 2.00pm & 4.30pm – 9.00pm. Standard pub prices apply.

Question: Do we have EFTPOS facility on board? Answer: Yes, credit card only.

Question: Are there Power points available? Answer: Yes, each cabin has a standard AUS 240v power point avaialable.

Question: What style of bedding is available? Answer: All cabins have single bunk style beds. Cabins range from 2 – 4 berth.

Question: Can we drink the water in the cabin? Answer: Yes and additionally there are water coolers on the vessel.

Question: Can we take animals onboard? Answer: No

Question: How much luggage can I bring? Answer: One suitcase or overnight bag is allowed per person in the cabin. Storage space is minimal.

Question: What if I suffer from motion sickness? Answer: If you have concerns about motion sickness, please see your general practitioner or pharmacist prior to booking or travelling.

Question: Do we travel outside the reef? Answer: No, we travel inside the reef, most of the journey is smooth sailing and you are able to see the coastline.

Question: What sort of activities are there on board? Answer: Due to this being a cargo vessel, there is limited activities on board. However there is a TV room with DVD’s, Video’s, board games and books to read. We suggest passengers bring their own book and enjoy the view from the back deck.

Question: Do we supply portable cots? Answer: No

Question: I plan on travelling only one way on the Trinity Bay can we store our freezer & chiller products on board? Answer: Yes, passengers are entitled to 1 box of freezer and chiller products. Additional freight will incur a freight charge.

Question: Can we take food on board? Answer: All meals are provided on the journey, items such as soft drinks and chocolates can be purchased from the ships licensed bar.

Question: Will I need to climb stairs? Answer: Yes you will. The ship has multiple levels and is a safety requirement that you are able to climb stairs.

Question: Is there a pool? Answer: No

Question: Is there a doctor on board? Answer: No, however our staff/crew are certified to administer First Aid.

Question: Can we bring a rod and go fishing aboard? Answer: No, the MV Trinity Bay is not suitable for fishing from.

Question: Can I sit at the Captains table? Answer: There is no Captain’s table, however the captain will come and introduce himself to everyone.

Question: When is the last trip for the year? Answer: Depending on our Christmas Schedule, it would be best to contact our office during business hours 1800 424 422.

Question: Is there discounted rates for children under 12? Answer: During the low season we do offer discounted rates for children. Please contact our office for details.
